Blues Attempt Raid for Liverpool's No. 9

After failed moves for Sergio Aguero from Atletico Madrid, the Blues have set their sights again on a former Mattress Maker. Fernando Torres has been on their radar for quite sometime and Chelsea have reportedly been rebuffed by the Reds after a bid for their No. 9.

El Nino has been rumored to be in line to request a transfer from Liverpool but I do not see that happening. The recent rich vein of form that he has found under Kenny Dalglish I believe will keep him at Anfield until at least the summer. However, the Spaniard seems to remain a man of his word that he is a Liverpool player and will stay there.

Manchester City were reportedly offering close to £75 Million for the striker in the last period when the vultures were circling the Reds frontman. Chelsea's offer according to ESPNsoccernet would make Torres the highest paid Blue with a deal paying in the range of £160,000 a week.

The birth of his recent child just a few months ago also will most likely see the player remain on Merseyside for the time being. Liverpool directly rejected the bid stating that Torres is not for sale.
