Liverpool FC: 5 Bold Player Predictions for the Month of September

Clive Brunskill/Getty Images
(Bleacher Report) The Reds have enjoyed one of the best opening months to a season in years. Liverpool sit joint third in the league with seven points and a plus four goal differential keeping them above Chelsea.

Luis Suarez, Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson and Martin Skrtel have all gotten off the mark in the League while Suarez, Maxi Rodriguez and Andy Carroll all scored as the Reds advanced to the next round of the Carling Cup.

With the transfer window complete and Craig Bellamy and Sebastian Coates the latest newcomers to the club, it continues to be a bright future with the Merseysider's ready to continue their fine form in the coming matches of September and beyond.

The lack of European football could start to have a positive effect his month as all the other top six clubs are set to open their UEFA campaigns.

It looks to be a great second month of the season for the Reds and here is a list of five bold predictions of what we could see our Reds achieve in September......Click to View Slideshow.

Liverpool vs. Bolton: Match Preview and Team News for the Anfield Clash

Michael Regan/Getty Images
(Bleacher Report)As the Reds are preparing to face off in their third game of this new EPL season we are going to run down the most recent news from Anfield up to kickoff and in the evening after it is all settled.

The Reds face off against a tough Bolton Wanderers squad that is truly a more threatening side than many give them credit for. Owen Coyle has drastically turned the club around since he took over from Gary Megson halfway through the 2009-10 season.

Last year the Trotters looked a lock to finish in the top eight, but a late disastrous run of poor form in their last five games saw them drop drastically into the lower middle table.

However, despite that unfortunate result in their previous campaign they have come out once again firing on all cylinders with a superb opening day 4-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers. It was unfortunate to see them lose against Manchester City as their late comeback failed to materialize. If Coyle can rebuild his front line and continue to strengthen before the window closes they could fare very well in the first half.

Liverpool will hope to build on their results against both Arsenal and Exeter City after two straight victories. Kenny Dalglish will be keen to see his charges continue their run against Wanderers, and I do not foresee too many changes if any from last week's starting 11 other than I expect Luis Suarez to get his second league start of the season.

That being said let's get to the team news, transfer dealings, injury reports and all the latest as we head towards kickoff at 5:30 BST or 12:30pm EST depending where you are......CLICK HERE TO VIEW ALL THE UPDATES.

Liverpool FC: Suarez, Adam, Downing and Carroll Give Reds Future Great Hope

Clive Brunskill/Getty Images
(Bleacher Report)Despite the Reds being held to a draw in their home opener, their newer faces showed a lot of promise for the future.

Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez continue to prove they will be bright starts of the future and "El Pistolero" in particular looks to be the most endeared icon of the new batch so far.

The recent arrivals of Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing are also looking as though they will be more key to the future of Liverpool than many may have believed them to be.

After the opening weekend we can take a look at what they showed us on Saturday and perhaps take away that this is a bright attacking combination for the future......CLICK TO VIEW SLIDESHOW.

Dalglish Ecstatic over Continued Availability of Funds

Laurence Griffiths/Getty Images
(Bleacher Report)Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has been quoted in the Daily Mirror extensively about his excitement for the upcoming season and his gratefulness to having overwhelming support from his club owners.

The Scot has splashed a ton of cash over the last eight months with the signings of Andy Carroll, Luis Suarez, Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Alexander Doni, Stewart Downing, and just yesterday Jose Enrique.

All seven players have been brought in with specific purpose in the eyes of many fans, but the real issue has to be the overwhelming amount of fringe players left to be offloaded. However, it seems their is no end in sight for the club's spending at the moment.

Dalglish and the fans seem to have gotten just what they want this season with the owners showing no signs of letting up in hopes to bring silverware back to Anfield as soon as the coming season.

King Kenny has this to say in his interview quoted in the Mirror:

“The owners want their investment in a red shirt, and we’re delighted with the business we’ve done this summer."

“We are happy with the quality of the people we have brought in. Of course we will be judged by what happens on the pitch rather than off it but at the moment it’s positive.

“The five guys we’ve brought in have strengthened the quality and also the strength in depth of the squad, and we are a lot stronger than last year.”

It is believed that Dalglish could be expecting to make a surprise title push this season as the Reds are taking their missing out of European football as an advantage over the other top six clubs that will deal with even more cramped schedules.

“Every club wants to win trophies, and this is an exciting time - it’s a bit like Christmas day for the kids, isn’t it?”

“You need to win a lot of matches to win a championship, but you don’t need to win many to win a cup, so we’ll just focus on getting as many positives results as we can.

“Now we just have to see if we’ve made the right decisions. [Saturday's game] is when we have to enhance that positivity - let’s go on the pitch.”

There is no doubt that the Reds are stronger this season than in the last two and should at a minimum push themselves into the top three.

Liverpool V Sunderland: 6 Key Facts to Know Heading in Reds' EPL Opener

Andy Carroll Leads the Liverpool Attack to Battle Against a Familiar Foe.
Laurence Griffiths/Getty Images
(Bleacher Report)Liverpool's last meeting with Sunderland saw them take a 2-0 victory at the Stadium of Light back to Anfield after suffering a 2-2 Draw at home earlier in the season.

Kenny Dalglish will want his charges to start the season off on the right foot with a key opening day victory in front of the Kop to set the tone for his first full season back in charge.

He will be without Steven Gerrard as the Captain is still recovering from his operation over the Summer. Luis Suarez is also most likely to miss out as he is still returning to full match fitness, but do not be surprised if he comes on at the 60th minute if the Reds were to be in trouble.

It is looking to be a great opening day for the Reds this year in perhaps the most highly anticipated season in years. With that in mind here are sixth facts to keep in mind about this weekends upcoming fixture.

Liverpool FC: Looking Back on a Season of Ups and Downs, Is Sixth Really so Bad?

Sciott Heavey/Getty Images
(Bleacher Report) The 2011-12 season started off with great belief and great doubt all at the same time. The Rafael Benitez era had come to a close in a dismal fashion, as the Reds slumped to a 7th place finish after having finished 2nd the season before.

Roy Hodgson, after leading a mid-table Fulham team to the UEFA Europa League final, was installed as the new man at Anfield, but it was a signing that had no real fan belief behind him. Myself included had great respect for Hodgson for what he had achieved with Fulham, but wasn't so sure he was the man for the job.

It became even more apparent that the team was slipping, as more signings continued to come into the club that appeared not on the level needed for the Reds to continue to compete at a top four level. Joe Cole came in as a free transfer, Christian Poulsen and Paul Konchesky were looked at as unnecessary, but the loaning out of Emiliano Insua and Alberto Aquilani and the eventual sale of Javier Mascherano made it necessary to fill voids.

The eventual bright spots in the signings of the summer would be Raul Meireles and Jonjo Shelvey, though it wasn't Hodgson that they would shine under.

The first game of the season set the tone for how frustrating it would be, as Joe Cole was given a red card in his debut game as a Red against Arsenal, whom came back to take a draw from the home side in the second half. Little did Cole know but he would become the poster boy for Liverpool as the underperformer of the season.

Results continued to go against the Reds, and Javier Mascherano disrespected the club by refusing to play until he was sold to Barca, where he got little playing time might I add. But he did get a small piece of a La Liga title, and maybe a Champions League title that is yet to be decided.

The first bright patch of the season came from more controversy over ownership. As Tom Hicks and George Gillet had spiraled the club's financial situation out of control, the fans were at their wits end to the point of open protestation at any chance they could get. To the rescue of the club came a new set of American owners, Fenway Sports Group under the guidance John W. Henry.

FSG had a proven track of success in professional sports as they had resurrected the Boston Red Sox and led them to two World Series titles and a completely refurbished Fenway Park. If there were some owners that knew how to make a franchise successful from the ground up, it appeared that these guys knew their stuff.

After a knockout battle through the courts, it was finally settled in their favor, and Liverpool was in a new era of ownership.

However, the results didn't immediately carry over onto the pitch. As Hodgson's non-attacking style of sitting behind the ball was failing to make the grade, and Liverpool's stars were continuing to languish in limbo of inconsistency. Fernando Torres looked done, Steven Gerrard and Jaime Carragher were shadows of themselves, and the all-around feeling was despair despite the new ownership.

The Reds were stuck in the lower reaches propping up the table. A team of their class and history should never be there.

Despite some out-of-nowhere performances, such as the 2-0 victory over Chelsea at home, the Reds just weren't in the right place under Roy Hodgson. The new owners had seen enough by January, and with Kenny Dalglish in the wings,, there was only one choice to guide the team through to the end of the season.

The return of King Kenny to the managers post on January 8, 2011 was a blessing to fans and all alike as far as Liverpool was concerned. Hodgson is a great manager for a mid-level team but couldn't match his style to the desires of Liverpool.

The Reds were in 12th place as Kenny prepared to take over the day before a vital cup tie clash with Manchester United that would see Steven Gerrard see a red card in the first half. Eventually, Liverpool would crash out thanks to the poorly called penalty that sent the Skipper off.

Controversy continued as Torres was staying and going, staying and going. Finally, his true colors emerged as he left Liverpool for a £50 million transfer to Chelsea, to a "Bigger Club," and the funds would be used as the cash to acquire both Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll.

Kenny led the team back to their winning ways just days before the Torres debacle, bringing out the true class of Meireles. Meireles took off after his goals against Everton and Wolves, the latter of which Dalglish got his first victory as the first ever second term manager in Liverpool's histroy.

In true fashion, the drama of the EPL pitted the Reds against Torres' new Chelsea Blues in his first match of February. Four days earlier Luis Suarez had scored in his debut against Stoke City, and already, "El Pistelero," was trying to erase the memories of "El Nino."

Stamford Bridge was a cauldron of heated fans as Liverpool fans cat-called their former hero who had claimed he would always be a Red and had utterly disgraced his former team by claiming the Blues a bigger club. Meanwhile, Blues fans hung banners believing he was their newest savior.

The Reds would run out 0-1 winners thanks to Meireles, who was the inform man under Dalglish in his first months back in charge. Meireles scored five goals in a six game period.

Kenny's men would continue to climb up through mid-table mediocrity, and the rise of Meireles and youngster Martin Kelly would accompany the praise heaped onto Dalglish. Suarez adapted quicker than any would have imagined, and he would form a lethal attacking trio with Dirk Kuyt and Carroll once the three of them could all be on the pitch at once.

As the weeks and matches went by, the confidence was being restored in the players, the fans were reuniting behind Dalglish, and Jaime Carragher could not have summed up the affect of the care taker any better than with the words from an interview with the Guardian:

"He's brought the club together as one. The players and the supporters are all together. It wasn't like that at the start of the season, unfortunately for Roy. But I think Kenny coming in has galvanized the support behind the team again and obviously his record as a manager in the past is fantastic. He's one of the top managers around. He's won four championships."

Dalglish failed to keep the team in Europe, but given that he never had the opportunity to really manage any European games in his previous Liverpool tenure, it isn't a total bust, as he will get it right in time.

His valiant charge back to the top of the table was hampered more times than not by injury after injury, but he proved that he could use youth and any and all resources to get the job done, as more academy youngsters in Jay Spearing, John Flanagan, Jack Robinson, and Charlton Youth Jonjo Shelvey all played their roles for the new boss.

FSG awarded Dalglish his much deserved contract as they offered him a 3-year deal just weeks ago. The Reds were poised for another season in the Europa League after being counted out, but their final two games ended in disappointment, as two losses allowed Tottenham to grab fifth and keep the Reds in sixth.

In conclusion, despite the sixth place finish and no Europa League, I actually believe grew as a team this season. A lot of young players got time to develop, Lucas finally really came into his own and was perhaps the best player of the season for the Reds, and the fans are behind the owners and the manager again.

To me, the Reds are in a much better position for growth and development than they were last year, and I look forward to an exciting summer transfer season that may or may not be hampered by no European action. I believe the intent of the new owners and the new manager have the club in an enticing new position for players to get excited about.

Shelvey has voiced his belief that next year will be great in his latest interview with LFC.tv stating:

"I believe next season will be a big one for Liverpool. I think with the way we were ending the season, apart from our last two games, the fans have got to be very optimistic about the future."

Jaime Carragher also believes that no European action in the Europa League allows an easier path back to the Champions League next season:

"The main thing for us next season is getting back into the Champions League. Not being in Europe will give us a better chance of doing that. We want to get back in the top four and do well in the cups.

"Playing Thursdays and Sundays isn't ideal so there's a flip side to not being involved."

The players are ready for next season and so am I. Come on you Reds, YNWA!

Liverpool FC: Predicting the Reds Starting Line-Up for the 2011-12 Season

(Bleacher Report) In what has been a reason of heartache and pain for Liverpool, it has also been a season of revived hopes and dreams. New faces, new leadership and new owners with a desire to win have done wonders for the Reds and the club as a whole.

Alex Livesey/Getty Images
The January arrival of Luis Suarez has sparked a sleeping attack for the Reds, as his creativity and tenacious attacking desire to get in the mix has pushed the Reds to their best since his regular inclusions began in late February.

Andy Carroll has also had a great effect; he has given the Merseyside club a new dimension to play from with a tall powerful striker to hold up the play and allow the quick-footed Uruguayan Suarez, and the in-form attacker Dirk Kuyt to reap the benefits.

With the loss to Tottenham Sunday afternoon, it is still apparent how much there still is to change around Anfield. The current crop of players truly isn't enough, and there will most likely be a massive exodus during the summer, as well as several more new faces entering the mix.

In the spirit of what the Reds could look like after a successful summer in the transfer market, here is a brief look at what the Reds bench and starting 11 could look like next season......Click Here to Start the Slideshow.

Liverpool FC: Charlie Adam and the Reds Top 20 Realistic Summer Transfer Targets

Who Will Fill the future Ranks of Liverpool following the Summer Window?

by Thomas Atzenhoffer on The Bleacher Report
April 18, 2011

Alex Livesey/Getty Image
The summer transfer window is quickly approaching, and with so many names in the press over the past few months as possible targets for the Reds, it seems like it would be prudent to try and weed out the ones that are actually feasible.

It has been an up and down year, but the ups have come more often in the last few months. The ship seems to have been set right with Kenny Dalglish back in the driver's seat for the club, and his influence continues to be seen more and more each and every week.

With so many injuries, and an ever shrinking chance at European Football next season, the Merseysiders are constantly being linked with the next group of stars to head their way since the arrival of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll.

The defense is the most suspect area as it has been decimated by injury time and time again over the last few seasons. However, the Reds' need for one or two natural wide players is ever more pronounced now that they have Andy Carroll up front.

David N'Gog also has played a great part for the club, but he needs time on loan to truly develop and the Reds are short on a reliable striker to step in behind Suarez, Carroll and Dirk Kuyt to alleviate the pressure on the three and also to push for a place in training to cause the team to work harder and progress even higher.

It is truly hard to determine which of these is the most important area. There is also growing concern that Steven Gerrard needs a replacement in the wings to learn from him before his legs and body run out.

So, in no particular order, here is a list of the players that seem the top 20 most likely to don the Red of Liverpool and come out to the Anfield Kop's full voice ringing out the verse's and chorus of "You'll Never Walk Alone."

Liverpool FC Ratings: Andy Carroll and Dirk Kuyt Boot City Back to Manchester

Carroll and Kuyt, Please Stand Up

by Thomas Atzenhoffer on The Bleacher Report
April 12, 2011

Michael Regan/Getty Images
On a night that held so much remembrance of life and loss for Liverpool it was an inspired performance by the Reds.

A minute of silence before the game remembered the 96 fans that were crushed at Hillsborough 22 years ago this coming Friday. It also held thoughts and prayers for a fallen Merseyside hero, Soldier Lance Sargent Mark Burgan killed recently in Afghanistan, and the tragic loss of Jan Fairclough the wife of former Kop Hero David Fairclough.

Monday night saw Anfield come alive as the Reds thoroughly demolished a Manchester City side that looked like they left their boots at home. In one of their most impressive displays of the season, Liverpool made a statement that despite the constant criticism that they don't have enough quality players, they can still get the job done as a team.

Reading Joe Hart's lips and James Milner's body language was all you had to do to see the frustration mounting for the Blues. The loss of their captain Carlos Tevez in the opening half just after Carroll's long-range belter signified the end for the Manchurians, as they never got off the ground without their engine to drive them forward.

Mario Balotelli replaced the Argentine and continued to show no signs of being a success in England and was truly shown the door as he was subbed off at the 83rd minute for midfielder Nigel De Jong.

Though it was thought that the Blues fielded a weaker side than faced Sunderland, I don't believe that was the case. David Silva, De Jong and Balotelli were not involved, but in their place were Eden Dzeko, James Milner and Gareth Barry. If that is a weakened side, trade them and give me City's millions.

With both teams' European desires tossing about in the balance, it showed that Liverpool still is fighting for Europe and respect, while Manchester City's 5-0 victory at Sunderland might not be all it was cracked up to be.

All of that in mind, let's give some credit where it is due to a Liverpool side that put in a great team effort and earned a deserved 3-0 victory in front of the Kop.............CLICK HERE TO START THE SLIDESHOW AND READ MORE

Liverpool FC: Downing, Honda and Perotti as Transfer Rumors Continue

Transfer Rumors Continue to Swirl Around Anfield

by Thomas Atzenhoffer on The Bleacher Report
April 6, 2011

Michael Regan/Getty Images
With two of their biggest signings in years, Liverpool made a splash in the January transfer market. However, given that they are still languishing outside the top five and will be completely out of contention for European competition if Tottenham hold their margin, it has not been enough.

Lack of creativity has been the thorn in the side of Liverpool's past two seasons since the departure of Xabi Alonso. Even former Red Jermaine Pennant could be considered missed for his crosses at this point, as he has provided form and excellent service from the wide areas for Stoke City in a resurgent season for himself after leaving the Reds several years ago.

The transfer rumors and gossip continue to fly, and with that in mind, I thought once again to bring many of those rumors out and into the open for discussion. As Kenny Dalglish is looking more and more like he will be permanently installed once the summer rolls around, he and Damion Comolli will have to get their heads right to steer the club in the right direction under their very supportive new owners........READ MORE AND START SLIDESHOW

Liverpool FC: The Alberto Aquilani Question, Use Him or Sell Him?

Italian Playmaker's Future is Remains Undecided

by Thomas Atzenhoffer on The Bleacher Report
April 1, 2011

Claudio Villa/Getty Images
Alberto Aquilani was purchased for Liverpool in August of 2009 by Rafael Benitez, believed to be the replacement for Real Madrid bound midfield maestro Xabi Alonso. The Roma born and bred 25-year-old was thought to be more than adequate to fill the boots of their beloved Spanish engineer.

However, the Italian arrived with an ankle injury that would keep him out for months. After a previous season in which the Reds have just nearly missed the Premier League Title in Second Place behind Manchester United with their best finish in years a lot of belief and expectations were placed on his shoulders.

With a £20 Million price tag, "Il Principino," was expected to be the second coming. But this to many proved not to be the case. Brought it to be a deep setting playmaker, the Italian was more keen to get forward and in many matches he proved to be quite effective for the Reds.....READ MORE ON THE BLEACHER REPORT

Liverpool FC: Dirk Kuyt's Hot Streak Continues as He Leads International Reds

All the Results from Liverpool's International Stars

by Thomas Atzenhoffer on The Bleacher Report
March 30, 2011

Michael Regan/Getty Images
As the International break came to a close yesterday, the Reds who have been away with their national teams will be returning to Melwood.

As Liverpool prepare for their final eight game run-in, starting with Saturday's clash against West Bromwich Albion under former boss Roy Hogdson, they have been lucky not to see any more players join the ranks of the injured while away.

With the large majority of the Spanish contingent, aside from Pepe Reina who was not called in for his national side this break, having moved on in the last two seasons with Xabi Alonso, Alvaro Arbeloa and Fernando Torres all having left the side, the Reds see most of their players scattered a little more about these days when it comes to international breaks.

England now holds the majority of Liverpool's international players in the clubs home national side.

Dirk Kuyt continues to be on form as he was a difference maker for the Netherlands. The other Liverpool players visiting with their homeland sides also put in great performances during the time spent with their national teams, and here is a look at what transpired throughout friendly matches and 2012 European Championship Qualifiers......READ MORE AND START THE SLIDESHOW

Liverpool were dumped out of the Europa League in an outright pathetic display last night at Anfield. The Merseyside club never impressed but for a few fleeting moments in the first 10 minutes and had several chances in the last 10 minutes. Other than that were flat and dull.

This morning, third-in-line captain Pepe Reina released a cry for fifth as he still feels that his club can achieve European football again next season despite being a game plus six points back from Tottenham Hotspur...READ MORE AND START SLIDESHOW

Will the Fabled Ground at Anfield be enough to Lift the Reds to Further their European Dreams?

The Reds head into Thursday's second leg contest against Braga at Anfield already trailing 0-1 on aggregate. Braga vs Liverpool Europa League Preview

Article first published as Europa League Preview: Braga vs Liverpool on Technorati.
Liverpool goes to Portugal to take on Sporting Braga in the first leg of their last 16 Clash in the Europa League.

by Rhydon Atzenhoffer
March 9, 2011

Kuyt has Scored 4 goals in his Last Two Games
Liverpool enjoyed a massive victory this weekend as Dirk Kuyt scored his first hat-trick as a Red and Luis Suarez put in a masterful performance to give the Merseyside giants a much needed 3-1 victory over arch rivals Manchester United. Andy Carroll also made his debut for the club puting in a 20 minute shift in which he made several headed efforts for the team that show just what kinds of things they will expect to see with the young powerful forward making his way into the side over the next month.

Braga also experienced an energizing victory as they defeated Portuguese Liga's 2nd place club Benfica at home to continue their chase for a Europa League spot for next season. Both Liverpool and Braga find themselves in sixth position in their respected leagues table. If Liverpool's chances of Champions League football are looking bleak for next season's Braga's outlook is a no chance verdict.

The English Side sits 9 points down from the 4th place Champions League Qualification spot currently held by Chelsea on 51 points. Braga on the other hand sits 20 points back from the 2nd place Champions League spot in their country after having finished 2nd last season. It is truly a European clash of teams fitted for a chance of a rematch next season as well.
Braga's Municipal Stadium Will be a Cauldron

Liverpool was dealt another injury blow in their defense this weekend as Fabio Aurelio joins Martin Kelly on the sidelines for a month with a hamstring injury. This makes way for Danny Wilson to possibly fit back into the Europa League spot and will more than likely see Daniel Agger as a Left back the next time the Reds have a run out in the English Premiership against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on March 20th.

It was also reported that Steven Gerrard is not making the trip either as he continues to struggle with a nagging injury so either Jaime Carragher or Pepe Reina will be deputized as Captain for the match. The good news for the Merseyside club will be a weekend of rest with the team having already been dumped out of the FA Cup which continues this weekend.
David N'gog Set to Lead Liverpool's Europa Line

With Luis Suarez Cup tied, for his games at Ajax, Andy Carroll is expected to make his European debut for the Reds. Some believe he will be a starter but I believe Kenny Dalglish will look to protect his young striker as he returns to form just as he did with Luis Suarez. Given a home debut in a victory, and then used as a substitute on several occasions before throwing him head first into a starting role. I see Carroll taking a subs role behind David N'Gog who is Liverpool's leading scorer in the competition.

A victory for the Reds would be ideal and more than likely allow them to finish of the tie at Anfield with ease for a great St. Patrick's Day present to the club and fans which would book them a place in the last 8. Liverpool also hold the luxury of having won this version of the European Cup on three other occasions making them the most successful club in the competition remaining in the hunt.

Predicted Line-Ups for the Tie

Braga Possible Starting XI: Artur; Miguel Garcia, Kaka, Rodriguez, Silvio; Hugo Viana, Custodio, Vinicius, Alan; Lima, Ukra.

Liverpool Possible Starting XI: Reina; Johnson, Carragher, Kyrgiakos, Wilson; Poulsen, Lucas, Cole, Miereles, Kuyt; N'Gog.

Liverpool Subs: Carroll, Maxi, Skrtel, Jovanovic, Pacheco, Spearing, Gulacsi.

Liverpool vs. Manchester United - Match Preview

Article first published as Match Preview: Liverpool vs. Manchester United on Technorati.
Manchester Travels to Merseyside to Face the Reds at Anfield with the EPL Title possible on the line for the Red Devils

by Rhydon Atzenhoffer
March 5, 2011

Can the New Boys all Make an Impact Sunday?
Kenny Dalglish and his charges will host Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United Red Devils early Sunday afternoon at Anfield in front of a full Kop. The Reds took a devastating blow in their UEFA Champions League hopes when they fell to West Ham at the Boleyn Grounds a week ago, and the Manc's suffered a dreaded set back to their title hopes in a loss at Stamford Bridge to Chelsea on Tuesday night.

This sets the stage for yet another Dalglish vs Ferguson Match-up. The two Scotsmen have faced each other many times before. Dalglish stiffed his counterparts chances of a title in 1995 as Dalglish took Blackburn Rovers to the English Premier League title that year. Now King Kenny will hope that another victory over United will stifle if not eliminate the chances of Ferguson winning another as it would see his team to their 19th League Title surpassing Liverpool whom they are tied with on 18 currently.

Gerrard Ready after Being Sent of at Old Trafford
Injuries and suspensions are likely to play a heavy part on both sides as they are battered and tattered after a harsh campaign. This has been a crazy up and down year in the EPL and it looks to continue that trend.

Martin Kelly is definately a no-go for the Reds as he is out for at least a month due to his hamstring strain. Jonjo Shelvey is also out of contention for the bench according to Dalglish's press conference on Thursday. Daniel Agger, and Fabio Aurelio are both day to day, and Andrew Carroll is nearing his time to shine but it is unforeseen what the weekend holds for him.

Last time these to met at the beginning of Dalglish's new tenure the Red Devils won on an early penalty and saw Steven Gerrard sent off at the 32nd minute. This time around the Red Devils will be the team without their Captain Nemanja Vidic at the back. However, they will also be without their other star defender Rio Ferdinand, unless his injury is a staging point for Ferguson to throw on a miraculously healed vice-Captain. The Red Devils will have to rely on youth in Chris Smalling, and also on Wes Brown who has failed to truly get off the floor this campaign.

The Reds defense will also deal with a reshuffle. With Agger and Aurelio doubts it will possibly be back to Sotirios Kyrgiakos filling in next to Jamie Carragher and Martin Skrtel. Danny Wison could get the nod, but I truly see Agger and Aurelio making the cut.
Carra must be Up for It

United desperately need this win to stave off a charging challenger behind them in Arsenal and I would look to see Ferguson do one of two things, either pack his midfield in the beginning to help keep possession with Wayne Rooney alone up top, or her will go all out with Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov both charging up the middle.

After Kelly's injury on Sunday the Reds switch to a 4-4-2 rendered them in a tough spot in that match. I see Dalglish to go back to his 5-3-2 with Glen Johnson and Fabio Aurelio taking the attack to the wings. The loss of the Torres and Vidic match-up opens up the possibility of seeing a new battle that will epitomize the future match-ups as Suarez vs. Smalling could prove a big one for the coming years.

Predicted Line-Ups for the Match

Possible Liverpool Starting XI: Reina; Johnson, Skrtel, Carragher, Agger, Aurelio; Lucas, Gerrard, Meireles; Kuyt, Suarez.

Liverpool Subs: Carroll, Maxi, Wilson, Ngog, Kyrgiakos, Poulsen, Gulacsi.

Possible Manchester United Starting XI: Van Der Sar; O'Shea, Brown, Smalling, Evra; Fletcher, Carrick; Giggs, Scholes, Nani; Rooney.

Manchester United Subs: Kuszczak, Fabio, Anderson, Berbatov, Chicarito, Gibson, Valencia.

Praha vs. Liverpool Press

Here is a run down of Some of today's best information about the Reds UEFA Europa League Tie on Thursday

Goal.com is showing a Liverpool line-up that looks to take advantage of an opponent that while not week is not quite up to the caliber that the Reds have been seeing on a regular basis.

Sterling for Possible Euro Debut
David Ngog looks to continue is fine goal scoring form in the Europa League as he has 8 to his name. Joe Cole will possibly get a run out as will youngster Raheem Sterling whom impressed Kenny Dalglish by scoring 5 goals in the Reds FA Youth Cup squad that faced Southend over the weekend. Sterling could be the youngest Red to debut in Europe. Youth captain Conor Coady also makes the trip along with two other young stars for the Reds.

Also it looks as though Steven Gerrard will not be in the tie as he is still looking after his nagging injury, while Andrew Carroll traveled with the team to enjoy the first European night as a Red from the stands.

More transfer rumors continue to fill the papers and I will break them down in detail tomorrow in a Thursday Transfer Round-up before our European match goes down.

Once again the Reds appear back on the Attack as they are linked with Another group of young Attackers.

All eyes were on Liverpool during the January transfer window as the Merseyside giants made two of the biggest signings in the clubs history with the Arrival of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll, and possible the biggest sale in their history as Fernando Torres traded his beloved Red for Chelsea Blue that saw a fan backlash for the ages.
Boateng Flips in Celebration

Now that the dust has settled, Suarez scored on his Debut, Carroll is looking to debut against Manchester United next month according to multiple sources, and Torres failing to impress since arriving at the Bridge, it is time once again to get down to business in regards to the Reds adding width and attacking options during the summer.

Lets face it Maxi Rodriguez and Joe Cole both are failing to make the grade as support for the attacking line. Dirk Kuyt is one of the hardest workers in the league, but he just doesn't have the final finishing touch he had as a young striker in the Eredivisie. Chock that up to years of being deployed on the right under Rafael Benitez. None the less the hard nosed Dutchman is still a key force in the Reds line-up as opposed to the other two.

First up in the rumors in journey man young attacker Kevin Prince Boateng of AC Milan. Though only 23 years of age, the German born Ghana international has already acquired loads of experience in three of Europe's top leagues. Coming through the ranks of Hertha Berlin and then moving to Tottenham Hotspur, during such time he spent a second season on loan back in Germany at Borussia Dortmund before moving to Portsmouth until their relegation and being sold on to AC Milan.

Elia Ready to come to the UK
Such time has allowed him to garner quite an international dose of footballing for his age, and would likely aid him should he move to Anfield for the reported possible fee of £10 Million pounds during the summer. However, the deal could be left wanting since Genoa and AC Milan own the player together and Genoa are reportedly the only side interested in the sale.

Ashley Young from Aston Villa has again been linked with the Merseyside club this week as has 24-year old Dutch winger Eljero Elia. The frustrated young playmaker has be out of sorts with Hamburg HSV this season as his first team chances have evaporated despite no visible lack of commitment or form. Liverpool tried to wrest away the former FC Twenty starlet during January but the move appeared more apt to wait for summer.

Benzema failing to Produce at Real
The biggest name thrown around this week has been that of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. He was reportedly a target for both the Reds and Tottenham on deadline day but he was not allowed to move from the Spanish Capital. Former Liverpool great Jaime Redknapp has voiced the opinion of a contingent of the teams Alumni that they should look no farther than the French International for a new out and out front man for the Reds.

A summer move could be possible as he would pair up with Andy Carroll and either push Suarez out to a wide position making runs into the box as he did on the left at Ajax in his early days. Or a move could be left off the table since the arrival of Carroll. However, I would look to see an offer still being made as he would make another option available for Dalglish next season and would give more youthful talent the chance to evolve in front of the Kop.

The Reds Look Once again at Spanish Aces after Departure of Spanish International Torres

by Rhydon Atzenhoffer
February 9, 2011

The Departure of Fernando Torres to Chelsea saw Liverpool fans revolt at the Spanish National. After this weekends defeat of his new team upon his debut they aren't quite to upset. The arrivals of both Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez, whom scored on his Anfield debut, have given the Reds faithful much hope.

Now that the current situation has been decided for the time being, Liverpool look to continue their youth and talent influx with the possible addition of two new Spanish shot takers to replace their formerly beloved Torres.
Cazorla to Replace Maxi

26-year old Villareal attacker Santiago Cazorla is believed to be a prime candidate for Liverpool addition in the summer. With David Ngog at the right age for a loan move to secure first team action the next two season possibly, much like Chelsea's Daniel Sturridge, having Cazorla to call upon behind Carroll and Suarez would be a welcomed addition.

Cazorla is also a skilled wide player, and his arrival could mark the departure of Maxi Rodriguez whom has just not been up to Liverpool caliber since his arrival. Having missed a sitter at the Bridge on Sunday, he did not do anything to endear himself to his new owners, as his strike could have truly put a stamp on the match early on for the Reds.

Spanish Starlet Alcacer
Liverpool most likely will be fighting with Arsenal for the services of Cazorla as the Gunners look to find another attacker in the wide areas as Andrei Arshavin may possibly be on the move this summer after stating his disenchantment with the club.

With the mind of keeping the academy rolling, and the talent flowing up into the first team, another young Spanish striker is on the Reds wish list for the summer. 17-year old Valencia starlet Francisco Alcacer is being scouted by the scousers.

The young Spaniard has 14 goals for Valencia B in 34 appearances, and has scored 17 international goals between 18 appearances from the U-16's, U-17's, and U-18's of Spain. He made is first team debut in a 4-1 victory for Los Che against Deportivo Logrones in Spain's Copa Del Rey
