Daniel Ayala's Hull City Switch Complicated by Swansea's Last Minute Approach

(Bleacher Report)Daniel Ayala was once believed to be one for the future at Anfield. However, the rise to prominence of Martin Kelly, John Flanagan and Jack Robinson seem to have scuppered any of his chances to make a permanent place for himself at Liverpool.

The departure of Rafael Benitez last season, whom signed the player, also looks to have aided in his possible departure. With the regime change now in full effect some players no longer are core to the plans of old and it is time to readjust the team from top to bottom.

Ayala made five appearances in 2009-10 during Benitez's last season at the helm, but he spent most of last season on loan. He had a 12 game stint at Hull City where he scored a goal for the Tigers, and another 17 games in the second half were spent at Derby County.

The Tigers where impressed with the young Spaniard and have been hoping to secure him permanently for the last week. A deal appeared to be at its final stages as of Saturday when a fee was agreed between Championship side Hull and Premier League Club Liverpool. However, but a last minute bid from newly promoted Swansea City may have changed a few of the dealings.

Swansea are keen to increase their depth at the back for the upcoming season and it will most likely be decided in the next 72 hours which way the youngster whom has been on Merseyside since 2007 will be headed.
